The International Classical Theatre Festival of Mérida presents the seventh edition of its extension in Madrid, featuring a selection of plays that will be performed at three venues in the capital — Teatro Bellas Artes, Teatro La Latina, and Teatros del Canal — between May 27 and July 6.
At Teatro Bellas Artes, five plays premiered during the 2024 edition of the Festival will be staged: Iconos o la exploración del destino will run from May 27 to June 1, performed by Rafael Álvarez “El Brujo”. Cassandra o El elogio del fracaso will follow from June 4 to 8. Ifigenia, starring María Garralón and Juanjo Artero, among others, will be presented from June 11 to 15.The program at Bellas Artes will conclude with República de Roma, an adaptation by Roberto Rivera, from June 18 to 22, and Lisístrata Montoya, from June 25 to 29, performed by the company Gitanas a Escena and inspired by Aristophanes’ work.
At Teatros del Canal, from June 4 to 8, the venue will host the production Coriolano, by Vania Produccions, starring Roberto Enríquez, Carmen Conesa, and Antonio Morón, among others, and directed by Antonio Simón.
Finally, Teatro La Latina will present Las bingueras de Eurípides from July 3 to 6, a production by Las niñas de Cádiz, directed by José Troncoso.
